Accommodation
The first records of Balneden being used as a farm date back to the 1740's. In those days the hill upon which Balneden (gaelic meaning 'farm on the hillside') stands was a thriving local market. The market remained on the hill for many years until a ferocious argument over cheese resulted in the market being moved to nearby Tomintoul. The house was passed down through generations of farmers until it was abandoned in 1946 and remained unoccupied until the mid 1990's. When we moved into Balneden in 2007 the steading was in a near state of collapse.
Balneden Steading was converted into 3 self-contained holiday cottages. Each cottage benefits from underfloor heating, wooden floors, wet rooms, wood burning stoves, modern kitchen facilities, free WiFi access and most importantly, stunning views in every direction.
Each cottage has its own parking spaces, and access to a washing machine and tumble dryer within the laundry room. There is also a secure general store room which can be used to store sporting equipment.
